Attention All Pittsburgh Pirate Fans!!!.
We are pleased to announce that this weeks speaker is none other than Chris Johnson, Pittsburgh Pirates Director of Personnel. Chris is in his fifth season with the Pirates and focuses on scouting, draft evaluation and decision-science.
Chris joined the Pirates on July 1, 2015 after serving on Steve Kerr’s staff with the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. Prior to getting into sports management, Chris served in the government with 12 years with the US Coast Guard.
With the US Coast Guard, Chris was involved with counter drug operations in South America and search and rescue operations in Alaska. As a civilian employee of the federal government, he served Naval Special Operations Command in identification, assessment and selection of Seals and performance evaluation during close quarters combat (CQC) training. He is a former Intelligence Community analyst, where he focused on US counterintelligence operations.
He specializes in decision-making under stress, and the human architecture of high-functioning teams. Chris earned his Ph.D. from UCLA in 2004, and completed two-years of post-doctoral training at Yale University from 2005-2007. He resides in Sewickley with his wife and their three children.
This should be a very interesting discussion and he should be able to shed light on the continuing issues of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bring you questions!!!
