I Am An Alcoholic

My name is Jerome, pronounced Jer-O-me. I grew up in a small town in West Virginia, in a big family, and very poor. Drug addiction and alcoholism has been passed down generationally in my family with a humble dose of poverty. Both of my parents died of overdoses, my mom in 1998 when I was 10 and I found my father dead when I was 24. I am the first and only person in my family to ever get sober and for that I am grateful and regretful. Much of my family battled active addiction and are imprisoned. Recovery has changed my life so radically that I could come share my story, you’ll never believe the path I have walked, for that I say thank you for inviting me. I’m currently a homeowner and a foreman for an industrial painting contractor based in Pittsburgh.

My recovery from alcoholism was facilitated by AA.

I am currently engaged to be married next year.

I hope this is enough of my background so that you may be able to introduce me in an accurate way.
